[Summary of survey results]

Reduced behavior: 1st place “makeup (59.7%)”, 2nd place “fashion (49.5%)”. Almost half of the behaviors regarding appearance decreased.
In an environment where contact with people is avoided, demand for “making the environment in the house comfortable” rises, and demand for “dressing up for people” falls.

[Summary of survey]

・ Survey method: Send questionnaire to JUSCLO app registrants, reply from the form
・ Survey target: JUSCLO app registrants
・ Number of valid responses: 451
・ Survey period: May 11 to May 15, 2020

[Research background]

Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare has announced a “new lifestyle” as a medium- to long-term countermeasure for the new coronavirus.
It is expected that there will continue to be a class of people who refrain from unnecessary and urgent outings, as life is recommended to reduce contact with people even after the declaration of emergency is lifted.
Therefore, at Beprice, in order to understand the needs when going out and refraining from going out, we investigated what kind of behaviors increased and what kind of behaviors decreased during self-restraint.
Respondent attribute
We conducted a questionnaire to registrants of the closet management application “JUSCLO”.

More than 90% of the respondents were female, and by age group, the largest number was 32.8%.

The number one action that has increased since self-restraint is “clean up”. It has been found that the time spent at home is getting longer and there is a growing desire to make the inside of the house comfortable.

[Q-1] What actions have you taken more than before? (Choice type, multiple answers allowed, total number of responses: 1244/451)
[Q-2] Why do you think Q-1 actions increased? (Free response format, total number of responses: 255/451)

■ The increased number one action is “clean up (64.3%)”

More than 64% of the respondents answered that they have cleaned up more. The rate was significantly higher than the other answers

“Because I can’t go out
, I’m more conscious in the house (woman in her 40s)” “I’m worried because I’ve been in the house for a long time (female in my 50s)”
“Make the room a little more comfortable Because I wanted to (I’m a woman in her 40’s),
there were multiple reasons that she answered that she was conscious in the house.

There are also awareness activities such as staying at home and spending time at home, which seems to be the result of a greater awareness of the “home environment”.

“Because I can have time to throw away the coarse dust in telecommuting. (Women in their 40s),”

“cohesive because there is no people medium opportunity that can be cleared up in time (20s woman)”
everyday chased can clean up that has not been able to There was also an opinion that “It was just the time to change clothes (a woman in her 30s),” he said.

■ The increased second place is “Cooking (48.1%)”

Surprisingly, cooking was the second place that prevented me from watching videos and shopping online.
“Because I’m free, I feel more comfortable and I spend more time cooking (female in my 40s).”
“The cooking is more self-catering, and the number of people who want to cook more elaborate food has increased. ( (Women in their 20s) ”
” I have time to cook food that takes time and labor. (Women in 30s) ”
Not only did I have more time to cook, but there were some opinions that the quality of the dishes I cooked was also improving. ..

■ The increased third place is “Watching videos and TV (45.9%)”

Some people noticed that they had lots of time, “because they had free time” and “because they had time”.
“Since the number of video distribution services has increased (women in their 40s)”
“Free content has been enhanced (women in their 40s)”
People who are motivated by the services provided exclusively for the STAY HOME period I was also seen.

■ Picked up the content of the increased behavior “Other (3.8%)”

In the case of “Others”, you were asked to enter the content freely.
Another prominent answer was an increase in craft time such as “handicraft, dressmaking, and sewing”.
There were multiple voices saying, “I handmade masks (female in 30s / female in 40s)”, and it seems that the environment such as increased demand for masks and sold-out commercial masks is also affecting.
As a small number of respondents, “playing with cats (female in their 30s)” and “drawing with a drawing app (female in their 20s)” increased their time.
I was able to see that I was working positively at home time.

Actions that decreased less than before were “makeup” and 2nd place were “fashion.” It turns out that if you don’t have the opportunity to meet people, your behavior related to your appearance will decrease.
[Q-3] What actions did you take less than before self-restraint? (Choice of choice, multiple answers allowed, total number of responses: 765/451)
[Q-4] Why do you think Q-3’s actions decreased? (Free response format, total number of

responses: 242/451)

■ The number one activity decreased was “makeup (59.7%)”

The majority of the respondents said that they lost their makeup, and the majority of the respondents reached it.
“I have fewer opportunities to go out (female in my 20s)”
“I don’t see people (female in my 30s)” The
overwhelming majority said that I don’t meet people and don’t wear makeup.
I was forced to put on makeup because I met people, but there was also an opinion that I was happy that I could rest my skin without makeup.
“I no longer wear eye masks except for eye makeup (fifties)”
“Makeup no longer works on masks. (Fifties women)”
There were some people who dislike wearing makeup on masks.
It’s also interesting that the only thing you do is make up your eyes, which is a place where you don’t hide with a mask.

■ The second most reduced activity is “fashion (49.5%)”

Fashionable (being careful about clothes) is ranked second with reduced activity.
“Because I can’t be seen in public (woman in my 40s)”
“I don’t care about my eyes (female in my 30s)”
“I don’t go out and don’t fit anyone. We
found that the chances of meeting people were reduced, and that the behaviors that one looked at, such as makeup and fashion, were reduced.
“I don’t dress up just to go out to the neighborhood (a woman in her 30s).”
“ I no longer have to dress up because I have no choice but to go out and buy food on my days off (female in my 20s) ”
I understand that fashion is a special thing when going out in the city ..
It can also be seen that demand for fashion, so-called fashion in general, is decreasing.
There is likely to be a demand for comfortable home wear such as relaxing clothes and comfortable clothes.

■ Decreased behavior third place is “exercise (44.6%)”

The movement was close to the top two.
“Because club activities are prohibited (male in 20’s)”
“Sport gym is self-restraining (female in 50’s)”
“Working from home (female in 40’s)”
“Because I cannot go out (female in 20’s)”
It can be seen that not only active activities such as club activities and gyms, but also activities such as work and going out, which are not the main purpose of the exercise, but have moving activities, make some people feel lack of exercise.

■ Picked up the content of the reduced behavior “Other (4.9%)”

In the case of “Others”, you were asked to enter the content freely.
Other breakdowns of the answers are “less eating out,” “less shopping,” “less work.”
Regarding the reason why the number of eating out and shopping decreased, “I don’t have a store (female in 30’s / woman in 40’s)”, I couldn’t do it.

What you can see from the survey
■ 97.3% of all respondents changed their behavior before and after going out.

The results of the questionnaire were summarized, and it was found that the percentage of those who changed their behaviors before and after self-restraint (those who had increased or decreased behavior) was as high as 97.3%.

You can see that the behavior of the majority of people is changed by going out.
Even though there was no self-restraint, I found that there were many people who changed their behaviors due to changes in the external environment (temporary closure of stores and remote work) and changes in their own consciousness.

■ In an environment where contact with people is avoided, demand for “making the environment in the house comfortable” will rise, and demand for “dressing up for people” will fall.

I was forced to refrain from going out due to refraining from going out, and I found that the activity that increased the most was “cleanup” and the activity that decreased the most was “makeup.”

From the reason for action, it was found that the demand for “I want to make the environment in my house comfortable” such as “easy to clean up the house and to spend comfortably” and “to have fun at home” is increasing.
We also saw a decrease in demand for “dressing up for others” due to a reduction in cosmetics and fashion time related to appearance.

It is expected that demand will continue to change while life is encouraged to reduce contact with people.

■ Supports tidying up with a non-contact bee-price parcel delivery service that matches the age of Corona

It is expected that the life style that minimizes contact with people as much as possible will continue even after the declaration of emergency has been lifted with the “coexistence with corona” With corona period.
In light of this situation in the world, at Beprice, we have strengthened our non-face-to-face, non-contact, home delivery purchase service, and have established a system where everyone can sell their clothes and bags with peace of mind.
