Swift Xi Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Chuo-ku, Kobe City, Hyogo Prefecture, hereinafter, Swift Xi) will be at the Osaka Kansai Expo PR booth (Period: June 27-30, 2019) at the G20 Osaka Summit venue. VTOL (vertical takeoff and landing) type drone Swift 021 full-scale model was exhibited. Swift Xi is the only Japanese company to exhibit a VTOL drone.
The Osaka / Kansai Expo PR booth at the G20 Osaka Summit was opened in Intex Osaka Building No. 3 adjacent to the International Media Center. At the booth, the goals of the 2025 Osaka-Kansai Expo are “(1) a society in which the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are achieved” and “(2) Society 5.0 (advanced) promoted by the Cabinet Office as a national strategy.
Contribution to the realization of a human-centered society that achieves both economic development and the solution of social issues through technology was publicized to VIPs and the media in each country.
Among them, the VTOL type drone Swift 021 provided by Swift Xi was introduced and attracted attention as a technology for contributing to SDGs and realizing Society 5.0. Airframe manufacturer Swift Engineering Inc. (Headquarters: San Clemente, CA, USA; Swift Xi parent company) has a track record of developing and delivering aerospace-related parts to NASA, Northrop Grumman, BOEING, Lockheed Martin, Sikorsky, etc. Despite being a drone, Swift021 is aircraft-level safe. It was also noted that the aircraft is equipped with its own AI, has fully autonomous flight and fail-safe functions (aircraft anomaly detection, collision avoidance functions, etc.), and can fly for more than 2 hours.
Swift Xi has been adopted in the “Drone Advance Utilization Business” conducted by Hyogo Prefecture. Specifically, we are conducting sediment-related disaster site extraction surveys, forest pest-damaged forest surveys, and harbor facility soundness surveys. In addition to the performance of the aircraft, the provision of operations with thorough safety management by a former US Marine Corps instructor was highly evaluated.
