Cooking utensils are indispensable in daily life, and in recent years, the number of cooking utensils incorporating IoT technology has increased, and they have become multifunctional and versatile.
In the field of business use, there are robots that can replace simple tasks such as flipping a frying pan, but no complete cooking robot that can master various cooking utensils is known.

Around 2015, a demonstration video of the robot kitchen “Moley” developed by Moley Robotics, which enables automatic cooking at the same level as humans, was released and received a lot of attention.
The video is as follows.

Demonstration

Using two arms, it moves smoothly like a human being and performs the movements necessary for cooking such as “mixing and cutting”.

How convenient it is to be able to clean up everything after cooking.

The strength of “Moley” is that it cooks according to the recipes registered in advance, and recipes from all over the world can be downloaded from a dedicated site so that you can easily eat dishes from all over the world at home. * Ingredients can be purchased via the Internet.
The cost is expected to be £ 10,000 (about 1.8 million yen).

Four years have passed since 2015 …

At the time of the announcement in 2015, it was said that it will start selling to the general public within two years, but it does not seem to be sold as of June 2019.
So I decided to check the Moley Robotics site. (* See the image below)

I was able to find the statement, “In 2019, we will release a consumer version of the robot kitchen.”

Expectations for general sales

Cooking takes a lot of time in our lives, but we will be able to devote it to any time other than other household chores.

Through “Moley”, it is possible to learn recipes of chefs from all over the world, and it seems that there is a demand for cooking lovers. Furthermore, selling recipes is likely to create a new form of business.

This time, as I checked the Moley Robotics site, I hope it will be generally available in 2019.
