Qualifying for the international robot competition “URC2019” (Universal Robotics Challenge2019 / sponsored by URC Executive Committee, Artec Co., Ltd.) for elementary and junior high school students will start on Saturday, July 6th.
In this competition, children compete for speed and accuracy to reach the goal with robots created using the robot programming kit “ArtecRobo”. The theme of this tournament is “robot sports” (“shooting” and “soccer”).
The 2019 tournament, which will be the third time this year, will hold regional tournament qualifiers at 11 venues nationwide, and the final tournament will be held at Osaka University on Saturday, August 24, with teams participating from overseas joining the teams that won at each venue. Will be given. From overseas, various countries such as Australia, South Korea, Taiwan, New Zealand, the Philippines, Mongolia, and Europe are planning to participate in the final, and it is expected that the final tournament will be international with a total of about 300 teams participating.
With the compulsory elementary school programming education from 2020 and the common compulsory subject “Information I” including programming in high school from 2022, the degree of attention to programming education is increasing.
