■ About GITAI
With the intensification of the space race in the world in recent years, the demand for work in space is rapidly increasing. In particular, for the low earth orbit space station represented by the ISS, commercialization of the ISS is being considered, and multiple commercial space stations such as space hotels and space stations for scientific experiments are under construction mainly by US private companies. Demand is skyrocketing.
GITAI is trying to reduce the burden on astronauts, shorten the construction period and reduce costs by enabling robots to perform work safely and accurately in response to the rapidly increasing demand for work in space development. It is a robot startup.
In December 2018, we signed a joint research agreement with JAXA, and in March 2019, we signed a MOU (Memorandum of Understanding) with SKY Perfect JSAT Corporation, the largest satellite communication company in Asia.
Six of the nine full-time members of GITAI were Ph.D. holders, five of whom were Ph.D. holders of the University of Tokyo, and two of whom were assistant professors at the University of Tokyo. .. Former SCHAFT (Exit to Google in 2013) Founder & CEO Yuhi Nakanishi also participated in GITAI as a full-time COO in March of this year and is proceeding with development every day.
■ About GITAI robot
GITAI aims to realize a robot that can perform onboard and outboard work on the International Space Station on behalf of astronauts, with the aim of reducing the burden on astronauts, shortening the construction period and reducing costs in outer space. ..
In the latest GITAI robot prototype (Unit 6), general-purpose work (switch operation, tool operation, flexible object operation, scientific experiment) that was difficult with conventional robots was premised on the limited network environment of the space station. We have realized the performance that can perform work, work with high load, etc.) with one robot.
